July sermons
Regular listeners may be wondering why we haven’t posted any sermons during July. The reason is that our recent services have been quite different. Sunday 1st July was a great time of discussion about the future mission of the church, but with many and varied contributions this doesn’t transfer well to a recording. Sunday 8th July was an all-age family service…
175th Anniversary – Andrew McCausland
The finale of our month of celebration was on 24th June. At the start of this recording Andrew speaks about looking forward. Then Denise reads from the letter to the Philippians chapter 1, and Andrew speaks, finishing with an act of commitment from all of us to “press on”.

At 11 minutes into the recording Andrew shares some greetings from former members of the church. From…
175th Anniversary – Michael Herbert
On 10th June it was lovely to welcome back Michael and Heather Herbert. Michael was minister here from 1970 to 1983. 175th Anniversary – Daniel Joy
On the first Sunday in June we started to celebrate our 175th Anniversary – 1843 to 2018. We were delighted to welcome back Daniel and Heather Joy. Daniel was the minister here from 2012 to 2015. In this recording Andrew speaks first to introduce our Anniversary month, and then Daniel speaks from James 3 v13-18 on the subject of humility.

He spoke on the significance of the harvest celebration of Shavuot (which we now call Pentecost) in the Jewish calendar, and how the harvest of the Holy Spirit on that first…
Holy Spirit – fire from God

Holy Spirit – breath of God
Reading from Acts chapter 1, Andrew spoke about the time between Resurrection Sunday and Pentecost, which is the time for preparing for the coming of the Holy Spirit. He went onto talk about the imagery of the Holy Spirit as the breath of God.
