Praise the Lord!

This ‘Psalm’ was written by the congregation at the morning service, 29th July 2018 led by the Stable Lane Housegroup. The service focused on Psalms 149 and 150. We heard a reading of Psalm 150 from the NIV bible and a modern rewriting of Psalm 149. We were then invited to write a simple ‘praise phrase’ or exhortation. These were collated and reproduced as below: Praise…

Summer Sundays

For six weeks from July 29th to September 2nd we are having informal, relaxed services led by our housegroups. In many cases there is no sermon and therefore no recording. If any of the housegroups includes a sermon then we will post it here.

The vine life

On 22nd July Gill summarised our journey over the past few weeks and looked particularly at what it means for us individually. She encouraged us to live the “vine life” as described in John 15, and the recording starts with Gill reading verses 9 to 17.

July sermons

Regular listeners may be wondering why we haven’t posted any sermons during July. The reason is that our recent services have been quite different. 175th Anniversary – Barry Cheesman

On 17th June, Barry and Denise Cheesman came back to Seer Green Baptist Church, and it was great to see them. Barry was minister here from 1984 to 1993. The recording starts with Andrew talking to Barry and Denise about their memories here, and what they have done since. At 11 minutes into the recording Andrew shares some greetings from former members of the church. From…

175th Anniversary – Michael Herbert

On 10th June it was lovely to welcome back Michael and Heather Herbert. Michael was minister here from 1970 to 1983. We started the service in the original church building in Seer Green, then a lace school, now the Parish Hall. We heard memories of what God had done in the lives of the people who used to meet in that building. Then we walked through the village to the…

Pentecost!

Sunday 20th May, Pentecost Sunday. We met round the communion table and the first part of this recording is the time of prayer which followed. Andrew’s talk starts around 10 minutes in. He spoke on the significance of the harvest celebration of Shavuot (which we now call Pentecost) in the Jewish calendar, and how the harvest of the Holy Spirit on that first…
