The body of Christ
Continuing our theme of “where do I fit”, on 12th July we discussed Paul’s writing on the body in 1 Corinthians 12.
Communion
As lockdown started to ease a few small groups were able to meet in gardens to share communion, connected to others in their homes via Zoom. In this short recording Andrew speaks about the importance of communion together.
Identity
On 28th June Chris Justice spoke about how we get our identity as adopted children of God. The talk starts with a reading from John 1:1-14.
The persecuted church
On 21st June we spent the service hearing about the persecution of the church and praying for our brothers and sisters who live in deeply challenging conditions.
Spiritual Gifts
On 14th June we had two parallel meetings: a bible study and discussion on spiritual gifts; and a service and talk on the same subject. This is a recording of Chris’ talk, starting with a reading from 1 Corinthians 12, verses 1-11.
Alternative gatherings
A few of us had the chance to meet Ellen Wild of Chichester Baptist Church. For a number of years they have been running Alternative Gatherings, also known as small missional communities which are very much part of the vision for our church. On 7th June, Andrew used the first few chapters of Acts leading up to chapter 6 to talk about how everyone has a part to play in the life of the church.
Pentecost
On Sunday 31st May we considered the events of the first Pentecost and how they apply to us today.
Praise, preparation, prayer
On 24th May Chris Justice spoke about how the disciples spent their time as they waited between Ascension and Pentecost. The talk starts with a reading from Acts 1 v1-14.
Ascension
On 17th May we explored what Ascension meant at the time and what it means for us today. The recording starts with an introduction by Gill. Andrew then follows with some thoughts about Ascension.
